Shalev Ad-El a effectué ses études au Conservatoire de La Haye et a
obtenu le premier prix François Shapira en 1987. Comme soliste, il a joué
avec de prestigieux orchestres en Israël tels que l'Orchestre Philharmonique
d'Israël, l'Orchestre de Chambre d'Israël et l'Orchestre Symphonique de
Haifa. Il a enregistré plus de 25 CD en tant que claveciniste et chef
d'orchestre pour des labels tels que Eufoda, Accent, Denon, Stradivarius,
Ambitus, Signum, RAM, etc. Avec l'ensemble Il Gardellino, il se consacre à
la musique de chambre. Avec eux ou comme soliste, il donne des récitals en
Europe et aux Etats Unis. Depuis 1991, il dirige l'Orchestre Baroque Musica
Viva et le Chœur des Solistes Norvégiens. Il a également été invité comme
chef d'orchestre aux festivals de Prague et de Meklenburg ainsi qu'à Halle
(Allemagne) où il a dirigé l'Oratorio Solomon de Haendel. Depuis 1997, il
est également régulièrement invité comme chef d'orchestre par l'Orchestre
Philharmonique de Halle/Saale en Allemagne. Shalev Ad-El enseigne à
l'Académie de Musique Baroque de l'Université Masarik à Brno.
Shalev Ad-El was born in Israel in 1968. He has quickly developed a
reputation as one of Europe's most sought-after continuo players. As
recipient of the AICF scholarships, he graduated from the Royal Conservatory
of The Hague and won the first prize at the Francois Shapira Competition in
1987.
As a soloist he has played with most of the leading orchestras in Israel
including the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israeli Chamber Orchestra
and the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. He has made numerous radio, TV and CD
recordings, both as a conductor and as a harpsichordist, and has given
recitals throughout Europe and the USA.
Since 1991 he has conducted the Musica Viva Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and
the Norwegian Soloists Choir and he conducted as well at festivals in
Prague, Mecklenburg, Festival and in the Händel-Festspiele at Halle, where
he performed Händel's oratorio "Solomon". As from the concert-season 97-98
he is a regular guest-conductor at the Philharmonic Orchestra of
Halle/Saale, Germany.
Ad-El already recorded 25 CD's for labels such as Chandos, Denon,
Stadivarius, Ambitus, Signum, RAM, CPO, Eufoda, and Koch International. In
1995, together with other leading Israeli musicians in the field of early
music, he has formed Accademia Daniel, with which he performed in many
respected venues and festivals in Europe as well as in Israel. He is also a
regular member of Il Gardellino (B), and The Dorian Consort (CH).
Ad-El teaches in the Baroque Music Academy at the Masarik University of Brno
and held also regular posts at the Dresden Academy for Early Music and the
Boston-University (spring semester 99). He gives numerous masterclasses
around Europe.
